Abstract
Objective To explore the effects of thinking style on overall health status among nursing junior students so as to provide a basis for psychiatric nursing education and mental health education of students. Methods On 1st March 2019, we selected 303 junior students of nursing school in Shanxi Medical University by cluster sampling. All of the students were investigated with the general Information Questionnaire, Self-rated Health Measurement Scale (SRHMS) and the Sternberg Thinking Style Scale. Results We put the score of style (original value) of thinking style as an independent variable and took physical health, mental health and social health of junior students as dependent variables in multiple linear regression equation. Results showed that monarchic style (P<0.05) and anarchic style (P<0.01) were negatively correlated with the physical health with 9.8% for the explained variance (P<0.01) ; hierarchic style (P<0.01) was positively correlated with mental health, and anarchic style (P<0.05) was negatively correlated with mental health, with 21.1% for the explained variance (P<0.001) ; legislative style (P<0.01) , hierarchic style (P<0.01) as well as extravert type (P<0.01) were positively correlated with social health, and conservative style (P<0.05) was negatively correlated with social health with 29.4% for the explained variance (P<0.01) . Conclusions Thinking style plays a predictive role of overall health status among nursing junior students which could be a good predictive tool for physical, mental and social function.
