Abstract

The stochastic perturbation of power loads has a significant effect on the voltage stability of power system. The bifurcation theory and the eigenvalue analysis method are used to analyze the voltage stability of a classical three buses power system in this paper. The random load characteristic is considered to develop a stochastic model for voltage stability analysis - a set of stochastic differential equations. Theoretical analysis and the numerical simulations using the Euler-Maruyama method illustrated that the random load's positive or negative accumulation can make the power system suddenly lose the voltage stability. The type of instability could possibly be of either Hopf bifurcation or saddle- node bifurcation.
