Abstract

Abstract Friction coefficients between tires and an icy road were measured at various temperatures and slip velocities using an inside-drum type testing machine. The tire contact with the icy road was observed during sliding. Effects of the number of sipes in a tread blocks on the friction coefficient were examined.
