Abstract

This study concerns the effects of the interfacial transition on the giant magnetostriction in superconductor-substrate structures under alternating magnetic field. The magnetostriction is induced in terms of internal force arising from flux pinning. The superconductor E-J constitutive law is characterized by H-formulation that can calculate the current distribution and electromagnetic fields as well as the magnetization of the high-temperature superconductor. Different interfacial transition functions and physical parameters as well as geometrical parameters are introduced to analyze the magnetostriction by the finite-element method. Results show that interfacial transitions have significant effects on the magnetostriction.
