Abstract

The movement of the flow and sediment around a central bar is very complex, which will restrict the navigation development. The tetrahedron-like penetrating frames is always used for the flood and bank protection. The main objective of this study is to investigate the effects of central bar protection with the tetrahedron-like penetrating frames .Based on the analysis of the evolution of the typical reach of the central bar, experiment of the flume generalized model was carried out. Combining with the theoretical analysis, the variation regularity of the sediment-carrying capacity of flow and the movable bed resistance and the roughness of the beach face around the model central bar was compared before and after it was protected by the tetrahedron-like penetrating frames. The results show that the tetrahedron-like penetrating frames can protect the central bar better, which provides a new approach for beach protection.
