Abstract
A protective effect against triglyceride accumulation in liver was observed in CCl 4-poisoned rats pretreated with cycloheximide. This protection is not related to the action of cycloheximide on protein synthesis and secretion of triglyceride from liver into plasma in CCl 4-treated rats. The metabolism of CCl 4 is not affected by cycloheximide. Reduced levels of plasma free fatty acids in cycloheximide treated rats could explain the phenomenon, in spite of the behaviour of protein synthesis and triglyceride secretion.
