Abstract

AbstractObservations on the normal seasonal spermatogenesis of Rana hexadactyla Lesson reveal that it is continuously cyclic nature. The effect of steroids during different times of a year on the spermatogenesis has also been studied. Testosterone treatment inhibited spermatogenesis at the secondary spermatogonial stage in all the experimental individuals. Estradiol implantation on the other hand caused a general disintegration of the tubular histoarchitecture. The probable significance of the steroid action on the seminiferous tubules and its relation with the hypophysis and the target organ are discussed.
