Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of Taekwondo exercise on body composition and insulin resistance in obese children located in Busan city. Experimental groups were exercise group(A, n=8), and the control group(B, n=8). The total experimental period was 12 weeks. The %fat in A group had significantly decreased. The muscle mass in A and B group had significantly increased. A group had significantly decreased in TG than B group. The HDL-C in A group had significantly increased in than B group. The insulin in A group had significantly decreased in B group. B group had significantly increased in HOMA-IR. There were significant interaction effect in the %fat, TG, HDL-C, insulin and HOMA-IR. In conclusion, results of this study showed that Taekwondo exercise improve body composition and insulin resistance in obese children.
