Abstract

Indium tin oxide (ITO) films are capable of reflecting infrared lights and are highly transparent. In addition, ITO films have high conductivity and are very stable to the environment. Because of these characteristics, they can be used as heat-resistant and transparent conductive coatings on automobile glass for preventing the solar heat penetration in the summer and for de-fogging and de-icing in the winter (1-3). In order to prevent injuries, automobile safety glass need to be strengthened. However, very little was reported in the literature regarding the effects of strengthening on properties of ITO films on automobile safety glass. Hence, in the following sections we report our study on this important technology issue.
