Abstract

1. 1. Activity of rabbit muscle phosphorylase a and phosphorylase b could be increased as much as two-fold by the addition of certain nonionic surface active agents. The concentrations of these agents required for activation of rabbit muscle phosphorylase coincide with the concentrations required for aggregation of these agents into micelles. 2. 2. Cationic and anionic surface active agents inhibit rabbit muscle phosphorylase. This inhibition also seems to be connected with the formation of micelles by these agents.
