Abstract

The reservoir characterization based on the seismic, well logging and geology information is a critical foundation for the reservoir simulation, history matching and remaining oil and gas prediction. During oil and gas field development, the acid treatment, formation fracturing and other reservoir stimulation events(artificial events)will cause history matching errors. This maybe lead to the doubt of the accuracy of reservoir characterization(reservoir porosity structure and transfusion capability). Therefore how to distinguish and handle the errors of reservoir characterization caused by the geology structure and artificial events is an important link to understand the reservoir characterization, reservoir simulation and history matching correctly. Through an oil field development case study, this paper studies the influence of stimulation treatment and the calibration method on the reservoir characterization and simulation in the iteration procedure of reservoir characterization, reservoir simulation and history matching. Obviously, this study will surely improve our understanding about the result of reservoir characterization acquired by the integration of seismic, well logging, geology information and reservoir development data and so on. In addition, the method can decrease the ambiguity of iteration procedure and increase the reliability of the remaining oil and gas distribution prediction.
