Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of stapler hemorrhoidal mucosa circumcision and traditional hemorrhoid surgery on elderly patients with diabetes. Methods From March 2010 and September 2013,90 elderly patients with diabetes underwent hemorrhoid surgery in our hospital were randomly divided into experiment group and control group. The patients in experimental group were treated with the mucosal ring hemorrhoid stapler resection(PPH),and the patients in control group were treated with traditional tie surgery. The blood glucose, insulin and insulin sensitivity changes before and after treatment were compared and analyzed between the two groups. Results The blood glucose levels in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group, the difference was significant (P < 0.05); the postoperative insulin sensitivity in the test group was better than that in the control group, the difference was significant (P < 0.05).Conclusions Stapling hemorrhoidal mucosa circumcision for the treatment of elderly patients with diabetes, helps to reduce the impact of surgery on blood glucose levels and insulin resistance,it is recommended to be further promoted in clinical practice. Key words: Elderly patients with diabetes; Stapling hemorrhoidal mucosa circumcision; Conventional hemorrhoid surgery
