Abstract

Temperature profiles of intratumorally injected nanoparticles in uniform and nonuniform (single and multi-site injection) manner during magnetic nanoparticle (MNP) induced hyperthermia are analyzed. Finite volume method is used to numerically solve the Pennes’ bioheat equation, to evaluate the temperature distribution. The analysis is carried out on a three-dimensional model that depicts a tumor surrounded by healthy tissues. It is observed that multi-site MNP injection offers a better overall temperature distribution within the tumor.
