Abstract

SynopsisDry matter yield and nutrient accumulation of corn were little affected by aeration and compaction applied to potted soil. Variability among replicate determinations of biological indices was sharply increased by compaction of fertilized soil. Compaction lowered oxygen diffusion rates, increased bulk density, but did not affect root production and distribution.
