Abstract
A review of the current status of work on the mechanical properties of structural materials in liquid sodium and lithium environments is presented. The influence of the environment as well as the effects of the microstructural and compositional changes that occur in austenitic and ferritic steels during long-term exposure are discussed. Requirements for additional data on mechanical properties are identified.
