Abstract

We evaluated the effects of simvastatin, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and their combination on coagulation and fibrinolysis in postmenopausal, hypercholesterolemic women with coronary artery disease, in a randomized, crossover, placebo-controlled fashion. There has been only 1 previous report comparing the effects of simvastatin with HRT and their combination on fibrinolysis, but unopposed estrogen was used in that study, hypercholesterolemic women with and without coronary artery disease were included, and there was no placebo arm. 1 Koh K.K.
