Abstract
In this article, shear stresses in calculating the rotordynamic coefficients of staggered labyrinth seals are presented. Differences in the values of these coefficients are observed and quantified. The results of the present article are compared with the results of earlier formulations that neglect the effect of shear stresses for various geometries and operating conditions.
