Abstract
Positron lifetime spectra are usually analyzed with three exponentially decaying components, para-Ps(positronium), free positron and ortho-Ps. However, a fourth component was obtained in many liquids. We reported the first results of the inhibition of the fourth component by CCl 4 in hexane and proposed a model. We show that the effects of several electron and positive ion (hole) scavengers, such as CS 2 , C 6 F 6 , SF 6 and pyridine on the fourth component are successfully explained with this model
