Abstract
Experiences of racial discrimination have been linked to a range of physical and mental health problems. However, little is known about the ways in which these experiences impact neural architecture, including white matter microstructure, which may partially mediate these outcomes. Our goal was to examine associations between discriminatory experiences and white matter structural integrity in a sample of Black American women. Given that all participants had experienced trauma and some had developed posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), we covaried for these experiences to better isolate the effects of racial discrimination.
