Abstract
The IrO2-Ta2O5 anodes for copper foil production were studied. As the thermal decomposition temperature of the catalytic layers becomes lower such as 613 K, no PbO2 deposits from the sulfuric solution containing lead ions. The short lifetime of these anodes can be improved by inserting the IrO2-Ta2O5 interlayer prepared at 743 K, because the adhesiveness between the catalytic layer and the titanium substrate becomes stronger. Another method to improve the lifetime is the etching process of the titanium substrate. New etching method in sulfuric acid also provides longer lifetime of the catalytic layer prepared at 613 K, on which no PbO2 deposits.
