Abstract

It has long been known that the mechanism of particle formation strongly affects the product particle morphology, and it is also understood that processing alters particle morphology. The study reported here illustrates how morphological analysis can be used to obtain detailed information on the morphology of the adipic acid particles made by three different methods: atomization, comminution and crystallization. Each was then processed further by comminution. Two types of data are reported: analysis of single representative particles and analysis of samples of powders.
