Abstract

The purpose of this study was to validate the effects of playing Internet games on imaginative capacity. An experimental study was conducted, and the Solomon five-group design was applied. A total of 30 volunteers were recruited and five groups were designed using random sampling with gender balance. After 4 weeks of playing the Internet game, each volunteer was invited to complete an Imaginative Capacity Test. Furthermore, wireless dry electroencephagraphy (EEG) headsets and electrodes were used to detect the difference between pretest and posttest EEG readings. The findings suggest that Minecraft develop imagination to a greater extent than do team action-adventure games such as The Humans but not improve the generation of high-quality imagery such as originality.
