Effects of Physiatric Consultation in Post-acute Care

Abstract

Physiatry-directed rehabilitation teams are assumed to improve patient outcomes, reduce hospital readmissions, and lead to appropriate lengths of stay in inpatient rehabilitation settings. However, there is no evidence to support these assumptions in the skilled nursing facility (SNF) level of care. This study represents a regression analysis of certain factors we theorized might be affected by the presence of a physiatrist practicing in a SNF environment.
