Abstract

The infrared temperature fluctuations on a plate in a coal-fired combustor were measured and the effects of participating media on infrared measurement were revealed. The experimental results were analyzed in both the time and frequency domains. It is found the fluctuations have both random and periodic characteristics. The periodic frequency is identified to be caused by vortex shedding of the gas-particle two-phase flow around a cylinder. This conclusion is supported by a numerical analysis.
