Abstract

Continuous production of monoclonal antibody by hybridoma cells immobilized with alginate and urethane polymer was done using a fluidized bed bioreactor with direct bubbling. Increasing the dilution rate did not affect the antibody production rate under aeration with air. By changing the aeration gas to oxygen instead of air, the antibody production rate was increased 2-fold. The monoclonal antibody could be produced continuously for more than 40 d.
