Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of On-line hemodiafiltration on mineral metabolism of maintenance hemodialysis(MHD) patients with uremia. Methods A total of 110 patients with uremia and MHD were randomly assigned to two groups. The patients in the hemodialysis (HD) group received routine HD 3 times per week, and the patients in the HDF group received one on-line HDF and 2 routine HD treatment. The evaluation index of all the patients were collected right before HD and 3 months after the treatment, including serum calcium, serum phosphorus, intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP).Results There were no statistical difference of the serum levels of calcium, phosphorus,iPTH and ALP in two groups before the treatment(all P > 0.05).Mter 3 months treatment, there was statistical difference in the level of serum phosphorus in the HD group. In the HDF group, there were significantly statistical differences of the levels of serum phosphorus,iPTH and ALP(all P < 0.01).Compare with the HD group, the levels of serum phosphorus,ALP and iPTH in the HDF group were significant differences(all P < 0.05).Conclusion Compared with HD,on-line HDF can effectively remove serum phosphorus and decrease iPTH and ALP,thus improve the abnormal mineral metabolism of maintenance hemodialysis patients with uremia. Key words: On-line hemodiafihration; Hemodialysis; Serum calcium; Serum phosphorus; Intact parathyroid hormone; Alkaline phosphatase
