Abstract

Effects of Nb-doping on the stability and electrochemical performance of SrCo0.2Fe0.8O3-δ were studied. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and electrical conductivity measurements show that SrCo0.2Fe0.7Nb0.1O3-δ cathode has excellent electrochemical performance, while further Nb-doping reduces the performance of cathodes. Microstructure evolution reveals that Nb-doping suppresses the formation of impurity particles on the surface of cathodes. Good chemical compatibility between SrCo0.2Fe0.8-yNbyO3-δ with GDC powders is confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction measurements. Results of temperature programmed desorption, thermogravimetric and thermal expansion coefficients tests indicate that Nb-doping improves the structural and chemical stability of SrCo0.2Fe0.8O3-δ cathodes because of the decrease of the concentration of oxygen vacancies in the crystal lattices.
