Abstract
Nagilactones can be divided into two groups, I and II, based on their bioactivity. When lettuce seedlings were treated with the compounds for five days, group I lactones stimulated the growth of the roots at less than 10 μg ml −1 while group II lactones produced an inhibitory effect.
