Abstract

Objective To explore the effects of music relaxation therapy on anxiety, depression and quality of life among inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients so as to provide a reference for improving nursing quality and promoting IBD patients' rehabilitation. Methods From December 2016 to December 2017, we selected 108 eligible IBD patients of Department of Gastroenterology in Wuxi Second People's Hospital by convenience sampling. All of the patients were divided into control group and observation group according to the random number table, 54 cases in each group. Patients of control group received routine nursing and drug therapy. On the basis of that in control group, patients of observation group were treated with music relaxation therapy. Anxiety, depression and quality of life of patients between two groups were compared before and after intervention. Results Before intervention, there was no statistical difference in the scores of anxiety, depression, dimensions and the total of life quality (P>0.05) . After intervention, the scores of anxiety and depression of observation group were (41.50±8.87) and (41.20±6.43) lower than those [ (54.27±8.88) , (53.89±10.33) ]of control group with significant differences (P<0.05) . The total score of life quality of observation group and control group was (212.47±7.38) and (193.32±16.03) respectively after intervention with a significant difference (P<0.05) . Conclusions Music relaxation therapy can effectively relieve anxiety and depression of IBD patients, and improve their quality of life.
