Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of multicultural model health education on the treatment compliance, cancer-related fatigue and nursing satisfaction in elderly patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in Xinjiang district. Methods A total of 108 elderly patients with NSCLC who received treatment in the NO.1 Department of Pulmonary Medicine of the Third Clinical Medicine School of Xinjiang Medical University (Affiliated Cancer Hospital) from January 2016 to February 2017 were collected as observational objects by convenience sampling method and randomly divided into control group (n=54) and observation group (n=54) . The control group was given conventional health education, while the observation group was given health education of multicultural model. A self-made medical compliance questionnaire, the Revised Piper Fatigue Scale (PFS) and a self-made satisfaction questionnaire were applied to assess patients' medical compliance, cancer-related fatigue and nursing satisfaction respectively. Results After intervention, in comparison with the control group, patients' medical compliance improved (P<0.01) . Patients' emotion, severity of behavior, perception, cognition and other items of PFS of the observation group were all lower than those of the control group (P<0.05) . The satisfaction of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05) . All the differences were statistically significant. Conclusions Health education of multicultural model has good application effects in elderly patients with NSCLC in Xinjiang. In addition, it can increase the treatment compliance, improve cancer-related fatigue and promote nursing satisfaction. It is worthy of clinical promotion.
