Abstract

In this paper the effects of Mn doping on the superconductivity in La 2− x Sr x CuO 4 superconductor is studied. It is found that the superconducting transition temperature T c keeps at 37 K in La 1.85−1.5 x Sr 0.15+1.5 x Cu 1− x Mn x O 4 for x ⩽ 0.1. This result indicates that the suppression of superconductivity in Mn doped system does not fit the Abrikosov and Gork’ov theory which predicts that T c should decrease in the presence of magnetic impurities. We suggest that the Mn impurities only localize the charge carriers around them.
