Abstract

Objective To observer the effects of microelectrifield net (MEFN) with different parameters on non-small cell lung cancer PC9 and A549 cell lines. Methods PC9 and A549 cell lines were used to assess how voltage and duration of MEFN affected the cells.Cell growth inhibition rate, apoptosis and membrane permeability were observed. Results When electric intensity was 40 V/cm (duration 1 h),growth inhibition rate and cell apoptosis rate of PC9 cells were 62.1% and 27.5%,and those of of A549cells were 55.0% and 26.4% respectively. When electric intensity was 25 V/cm (duration 1 h),growth inhibition rate and cell apoptosis rate of PC9 cells were 31.9% and 14.1%,and those of A549 cells were 30.5% and 13.8%,respectively.When electric intensity was 10 V/cm (duration 1 h or 2 h),there wasno significant growth inhibition and apoptosis.Under this condition, membrane permeability in MEFN group was higher than in control group, and the immunofluorescence stain positive rate of PC9 and A549 cells was (15.4 ± 2.9) % and (18.1 ± 2.1) % respectively. Conclusion When electric intensity is 10 V/cm and duration less than 2 h,MEFN can increase membrane permeability of PC9 and A549 cells safely and effectively. Key words: Microelectrifield net; Growth inhibition; Apoptosis; Membrane permeability
