Abstract

As revealed in the x-ray-powder patterns and crystallographic data, the primitive tetragonal structure of Fe1 + xTe is retained in Mg0.1FeTe1−xSex up to the solubility limit near x = 0.5. The excess Mg in Mg0.1FeTe1−xSex is found to be able to stabilize the PbO-type crystal structure with space group P4/nmm. The superconductivity in Mg0.1FeTe1−xSex is very sensitive to composition and clear phase transition from paramagnetic to perfect diamagnetic state was observed only for the samples with x = 0.4–0.5. Magnetization data of Tc,onset around 10 K and zero resistivity near 11.5 K appear in the sample with composition Mg0.1FeTe0.5Se0.5.
