Abstract

Electroencephalograms and brain serotonin levels were studied during and after massive doses of whole body x irradiation. Decreased serotonin levels were found immediately after exposure to 9000/r and 18 hr after 4500/r coinciding with EEG slowing and lethargy. Later, serotonin levels returned to normal even when some of the animals showed severe delayed radiation sickness. (auth)
