Abstract

In the present study, Raman scattering selection rules for different spin orientation in Bi2CuO4 are compared with polarized Raman scattering spectra. This comparison suggests z-axis orientation of magnetic moments. The temperature dependence of phonon modes is studied and strong spin-dependent behaviour near the Neel temperature is shown for A1g symmetry modes.
