Abstract
Lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBP) 10mg/ (kg.d) ip for 3 days could enhance the proliferation of both the early and the late differentiated progenitors of erythrocytes (BFU-E and CFU-E) in mouse bone marrow, and could also increase the percentage of reticulocytes in mouse peripheral blood. In addition in vivo experiments showed that LBP could increase colony stimulating factor (CSF) secretion by mouse splenic T lymphocytes, elevate scrum colony stimulating activity (CSA) level; and in vitro culture system LBP could strengthen the colony stimulating actions of CSF, but the growth of CFU-GM colonies was not directly stimulated. Key words: Lycium barbarum polysaccharides; erythroid burst forming units; erythroid colony forming units; colony stimulating factor
