Abstract
The present research aims to evaluate the temporal dynamics of the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) by the exclusion of fire in the Aguas Emendadas Ecological Station, Central Brazil. The study area presents savanna vegetation, in which fire is an integral part of the ecosystem. The results indicate that the fire exclusion for more than 15 years resulted in a significant increase of NDVI within the ecological season. This increase in vegetation may result in more severe fires in the future given the greater availability of fuels.
