Increasing demands for higher productivity, component quality and lower machining costs is creating a growing diversity of cutting tool materials. At the same time there are conflicting moves for materials with allround capabilities. Kenneth Sundberg, manager of grades and applications at Sandvik Coromant in Sweden, presents an overview of the latest trends in tool materials.
