Abstract
As a basis for making clear the relation between the seizure occurrence and the temperature under load intensity fluctuation condition using a two-cylinder test rig, the temperature rise of a rotating cylinder due to rectangularly fluctuating heat quantity was examined analytically. The temperature rise in the heat supply region can be divided into flash temperature component and bulk temperature rise component. The bulk temperature rise fluctuates in the circumferential direction. When the ratio ζ of the time for one rotation of the cylinder to the heat quanity fluctuation cycle is an integer, the magnitude of the bulk temperature rise undulation increases as ζ is approached unity and as the magnitude of the heat quantity fluctuation is increased. The greater the ratio ζ, the smaller the effects of the heat transfer coefficient on the bulk temperature rise undulation.
