Abstract

With the development of femtosecond time-resolved coherent-scattering spectorscopy, transient behaviors of intermolecular dynamics of molecules in liquids have been studied both experimentally and theoretically with great interest. This is mainly due to the fact that the time development of two molecules interacting with each other at various positions can be directly observed by using such a coherent spectroscopy. For example, quantum beats originated from creation of intermolecular coherence between Raman active vibrational transitions of molecules at various sites appear in time-resolved CARS (coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering) [1]. Effects of dephasing of the intermolecular vibrational coherence on time-resolved CARS profile were not clarified so far.
