Abstract

Abnormal Ca2+ handling resulting in triggered activity underlies some ventricular tachycardias. Numerical studies show that with progressive increase of Ca current (ICa) amplitude, spiral wave reentry changes from a stable, periodic phenotype to increasing degrees of meander, culminating in spiral wave breakup. However, there is a paucity of experimental data examining the effect of increased ICa on spiral wave dynamics.
