Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Previous research from this laboratory has suggested that electromagnetic fields (EMF) interfere with normal sperm function over time. While the effect appears to be field strength dependent, extremely high levels of EMF (> 200uG) where shown to cause decreased semen parameters as early as 2-3 hours. As changes in cell function would be preceded by changes in cell chemistry, the objective of the current study was to determine how early damage could be detected using changes in cellular permeability.
