Abstract

The effects of heat treatment on the intensities of X-ray induced absorption and luminescence in high purity silica glass have been investigated. It was found that the intensity of the E′ (5.7 eV) and N (4.6 eV) absorptions increased on repeating the heat treatment, while the intensity of the A band (4.38 eV) luminescence decreased when heat treated.
