Abstract

Late inhibitory effects of growth hormone were observed when the hormone (0.1–1.0 μg/ml) was incubated with adipose tissue from GH-deficient and normal mice. Early insulin-like effects of GH occurred only when glucose was used as precursor. Adult GH-deficient mice have a much higher basal acetyl-CoA carboxylase activity than normal mice. Administration of GH caused a marked reduction of enzyme activity in both groups.
