Abstract

In this paper, the authors discuss on the stability of rock cavern for the pressurized storage of L.P.G., considering effects of gas permeance and structural heterogeneity of rock mass. Considering fluctuation of the modulus of deformation and the strength from a point to other point in the rock mass, the authors conduct a computor modelling by means of F.E.M. and evaluate the effects of internal gas pressure, gas permeance into fractures, the initial state of stress, and structural heterogeneity on the stability of rock cavern. It is concluded that the possibility of gas permeance as well as the effect of internal gas pressure on stability of rock cavern depend upon the ratio of horizontal to vertical rock stress.
