Abstract

A simple chemical system showing oscillatory behavior is proposed and analyzed in detail especially concerning the effect of fluctuations. The chemical system under influence of fluctuation shows occasionally induced pulselike oscillations. This behavior is similar to that of the Belousov–Zhabotinskii reaction near the terminus of oscillations. The effects of fluctuation on the Brusselator and the Oregonator models were also examined. Through these investigations, we conclude that chaotic oscillation arises from the finite deviation induced by a large fluctuation near the critical transition state.
