Abstract

Objective To investigate the application value of fast track surgery (FTS) to patients with thyroid cancer during perioperative period. Methods According to random number table method, the participants were divided into two groups: observation group and control group, 30 cases in each group. The patients of control group received normal nursing care; the patients of observation group was educated with the concept of FTS during the perioperative period. The effects of postoperative rehabilitation in the two groups were compared. Results The incidence rate of postoperative complication in the observation group was 6.67% (2/30) which was lower than that of the control group 30.00% (9/30) (χ2=5.445, P<0.05). The anesthesia recovery time in the observation group was[(28.5±2.6)min] compared with[(42.4±2.2) min] in the control group (t=2.885, P<0.05); postoperative VAS scores in the observation group was (4.2±1.4), compared with (6.4±1.6) of the control group (t=2.346, P<0.05); solid foods withstand time and postoperative hospital stays were also shorter than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions The concept of FTS can significantly stabilize the organism of the patients with thyroid cancer and shorten recovery time.
