Abstract

The effects of stress upon the immune system effectiveness have been studied. The rats exposure to stressor stimuli reduced the levels of the lymphocyte division under the effect of mitogenic substance, phytohemagglutin. These rats exhibited the reduced absolute number of leucocytes. The adrenal hormones, though necessary for stress-induced reduction in the number of circulating lymphocytes, were not crucial for stress-induced reduction in the responsiveness of T-lymphocytes to a mitogenic stimulus. The systems-type analysis of the fenomena is offered, regarding the immune responses as parts of the whole organism behavior.
