Abstract

In this paper we describe the use of electrogenerated silver particles within a Y zeolite‐encapsulated iron‐SALEN complex to facilitate electron transfer reactions. The increase in the electrochemical accessibility of the zeolite‐encapsulated complexes by introducing a dispersion of small metallic particles within and on the external surface of the microporous system is effective and encouraging. Additionally, the possibility of viable electrocatalysis by zeolite “ship‐in‐a‐bottle” complexes has been dramatically improved. The influence of the potential scan rate on the enhancement of the electroactivity of the entrapped complex and on its stability is also discussed.
