Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of ecreteur's specifications on cigarette quality in ZJ17 cigarette maker, seven pocket ecreteur discs of different specifications were tested under the same conditions. The results showed that: 1) at the same cigarette weight, the tobacco loss from cigarette end, cigarette hardness and density at middle section of cigarette decreased, while the density at dense-end,total particulate matter, deliveries of tar, nicotine and CO increased with the increase of pocket depth;for the same pocket depth, the deviations of individual cigarette weight and draw resistance, densities at middle section and dense-end for three-pocket dics were higher, and the total particulate matter and deliveries of tar, nicotine and CO were slightly higher than those for six-pocket disc of the same pocket depth;2) for the same dics, the deviation of individual cigarette weight and draw resistance and tobacco loss from cigarette end decreased, while hardness, densities at middle section and dense-end,puff number, total particulate matter, and deliveries of tar, nicotine and CO increased with the increase of cigarette weight;3) at the same cigarette weight, the cigarettes offered the best aroma volatility, smoke mildness, smoothness and sweetness but the least offensive odor and irritation in the case of six-pocket disc with the pocket depth of 3.0 mm;for the same disc, the offensive odor and irritation of cigarette smoke increased, while the mildness, smoothness and sweetness decreased with the increase of cigarette weight;4) the circumference, total ventilation rate, draw resistance and dust content of cigarette were not affected by the change of disc specifications or cigarette weight.
